TRICK SHOT: Harry Wright sets up for a trick shot attempt

BEER PONG trick shots have been taken to new heights by a couple of Wellingtonians.

In a plan to win a trip to an NBA game in New York City, architecture student Jonny Fletcher and marketing analyst Harry Wright have made a Youtube video full of beer pong trick shots.

Beer Pong trick shots are consistently uploaded to Youtube and so the Mount Victoria residents decided to make one themselves.

American sports channel ESPN, which screens the top professional basketball league games, has been runing a competition in which people can enter their videos of any kind of trick shots and a viewer voting system decides the winner.

Most have entered basketball trick shots, however there are a range of videos, including ones of Beer Pong.

In Jonny and Harry’s video, the pair scale car parks, buildings and set up obstacles all around

Wellington, where they attempt to impress viewers. Jonny says they started making the video in early 2012 and worked on it whenever they could find the time.

“There were no specific days, but after noticing the ESPN competition ‘Trick Shot Your Way to the NBA’, we decided to give the video the final push and see if we could win a trip to New York City for our efforts.”

For the final car park shot, Harry says, the session took five and a half hours.

“We had four different cameras with two spare batteries. We started at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon and managed to get it done with the last battery flashing red at 6:30pm.

“To be fair, most other shots took a number of hours as well. We got a couple of early doors, be it with luck or skill, but the majority took some time.

“We wish we could just say we are that good and got them all so quick, but the reality is that it didn’t quite work like that.”

The competition closes on November 29.
